I think it's sad that artists today get pushed behind actors and directors. I mean, if you think about, how many modern artists do we really know? that are really popular? they are pushed to the background of corpuration, the animators never get as recognised as they should be. Even comics today, have at least 7 to 8 artists working on them, and the only people that get credit for it is the company. I really wanted to become an artist myself. It looks like not many artists have promising futures anymore. they more or less just become another goth kid at a manson concert.

I was joking ;-) I DO wear a suit for most of my workweek (I am an Assistant Floor Supervisor at the casino I work at), but a suit is a suit, and damn did I get a good buy on them. I look really good in a suit, but I'm way more comfortable wearing a dragon shirt and blue jeans. No matter how successful I am in my day job, in my heart of hearts I am a writer who likes to draw---and even at work they know that. But again, I was just trying to be funny.

2005-07-14 [Dark Adherent]: Well, I agree with Rainy~Day. But it also looks like art forms are making a comeback. Things look to me like Comics are getting more so back into the flow of things. ( I could be wrong, but it looks that way in my area atleast.) I know the golden age is over, but who says we can't make a new one? Also, nobody said being an artist was going to be glamorous. I myself have hundreds of original characters, and an unending stream of stories to go with them. I'd be more then happy to share them with the world, and if any of them were ever made publicly, that'd be my fame.

2005-07-14 [Lord Dog]: The real hurdle facing modern artists today is that frommaybe Norman Rockwell on (a generalization, I know) they are not seen as artists, but Illustrators. IFC just ran a special on Frank Frazetta and it mentioned / interviewed the guy who compiled a book on American Artistsand they did not want to include Mr Frazetta and others in his vein (fantasy artists) because they were illustrators. This was only until someone pointed out that Frazetta and Brom painting Conan is really no differant then Raphael and the"Masters" Illustrating stories from the bible

2005-07-14 [Lord Dog]: Comic Book artists and Fantasy artists (which in my humble opinion are the same group) are actually looked down upon from the rest of the artistscommunity. Then again its not like there isn't a tendency to flock by a certain style of artist. Which even happens here if you notice it, this list is longer than it needs to be yet at the same time it is shorter than it should be.

It is more difficult to add a name now though, because that name might shift to the wrong place... :(  and also maybe 3 coloms would be better? Or did everyone like the old list better? You can see the difference between 3 coloms and 2 by checking version 124. If people want to add a name they will need notepad to insert tabs between the names... It can all be changed back if the old system is preferred...
